About Us:

Shoreline Medical Addiction Treatment is the premier provider of outpatient Addiction Medicine services in Southeast Volusia County. Services include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), medical management of withdrawal, management of Alcohol Use Disorder, and management of co-occurring medical and mental health problems.

Our Mission:

Shoreline Medical Addiction Treatment was started to provide high quality medical addiction treatment to end addiction and overdose in our community. Working in local emergency departments and living in the community we serve, we saw the need for quality Addiction Medicine services available locally. We started Shoreline Medical Addiction Treatment to meet that need.

Dr. Stephen Viel has worked as an Emergency Physician for the past 10 years. Born in Central Florida, he attended FSU College of Medicine prior to obtaining his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He served as the Medical Director for Emergency Services at Halifax Health for 5 years through both the COVID pandemic and the rising Opioid Epidemic. There he started the overdose intervention program utilizing peer specialists to facilitate treatment of patients suffering from opioid overdoses. He is passionate about ending addiction and overdose in our community.

Jamie Ponti, APRN has worked as an RN and Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department before completing her Advanced Practice Nursing degree. Growing up in New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia, she has seen firsthand the effects of the opioid epidemic on our local community. She has worked in primary care, women’s health, and mental health. Jamie is passionate about helping patients out of the throes of addiction and into a sustained recovery.
